The Explorers Dive Club is a nonprofit group promoting dive community, sharing knowledge and experience. We are a group of central NJ recreational divers representing all ages, certifications, diving interests and levels of experience. We organize shore dives, boat dives, picnics, dive vacations and other social events. Our monthly meetings feature prominent speakers in sport diving and we publish a monthly newsletter. Need a dive buddy? Join the club! Thank you for visiting and come back often to see what's new.
Club meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm at the Spain Inn in Piscataway from April through October. Join us for dinner before the meeting. There are no meetings November through March, but we hold a December holiday party, a Sunday brunch in October, an annual summer picnic and a Delaware River rafting trip in August.
Our next meeting will be held Tuesday August 9th, 2016. John Yavorsky will give us insights into interesting sharks around the world, including the largest fish, the gentle Whale Shark. Starting from local shark dives you can drive to, this presentation will cover a dive site in Fiji, where up to 11 species, including Tiger and Bulls, can be seen. Personal experiences with all 10 of the “most dangerous” sharks will be covered. Finally, a short video will be shown of diving with the ultimate predator, the Great White. This photo shows that, even in a cage, you can get very up close.
Before our boat dive season starts, join us for a day of diving at Dutch Springs Quarry. Test your gear out and make sure everything, including the diver, is in tip top shape. If you haven't been to Dutch before, it's a great place to refresh your skills. There are dive platforms sunk at 20' for skills tune-up, plus a multitude of sunken attractions including a small jet, fire truck, boats, bus, airplanes, etc. Entrance fee is $40/diver and $30/non-divers. You should bring all your own equipment. Dutch does do air & Nitrox fills and you can rent tanks & weights from them, too. Meet at the picnic tables located on the Student/Training Side at the top of the hill at 9:00 am. Any questions, please email Melissa at email@example.com
Our 2016 schedule of New Jersey ocean wreck dives has been announced. You can view it here or in the April newsletter.
We've scheduled our 2016 rafting trip for Saturday, August 27th on the mighty Delaware River. We will meet at 9:00 AM at Indian Head Canoes Matamoras Base at 1138 Delaware Drive, Matamoras, PA 18336, (800)874-2628. See our current newsletter for details or contact Melissa Bellamy at any meeting.
Our annual Holiday party is scheduled for 6:30 pm Saturday December 3rd 2016 at the Spain Inn.
Check back here for announcements.
Explorers Dive Club membership is not a requirement to sign up for these trips. All qualified divers are welcome.
As a nonprofit group we rely completely on donations in the form of dues to cover our operating expenses.
The Explorers Dive Club would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for your donations over the years. Regardless of whether or not you are able to give financially at this time, we welcome you to join us for dinner, attend a meeting or an event any time you are available.
Dues are $25 for individual and $30 per family per year (July – June).
Please see Lisa Vesuvio at a meeting or see the membership application for mailing instructions.
